A laser is an optical device that produces a coherent beam of light, being a source that emits extremely pure light.

Laser treatment – Deep tissue phototherapy uses a process called photobiostamulation (FBM) to change the condition of the damaged tissue, by stimulating the metabolism in the cells. In this way it accelerates the healing process.

When the laser light is exposed on the tissue, the photons will disperse and be absorbed into the tissue.

The cumulative absorption energy will dissipate in the form of heat, giving the impression of a soothing heat.

How does laser photo therapy work?

The main target of the phototherapy process is the cytochrome C complex, located in the inner membranes of the mitochondria. Cytochrome C is an essential part of the electron transport chain, which drives the metabolism in cells.

These are very complicated processes in cells and tissues, but in short it can be said that laser treatment affects the local immune system, blood circulation and lymph, metabolism in cells and the production of various types of substances like endorphins and prostaglandins, which affect pain perception, along with other functions.

The laser does not always have a stimulating effect, laser phototherapy can have inhibitory effects. However, when used properly, laser treatment can initiate healing processes and soothe excellent pain and therefore it mainly encourages the body’s self-healing processes.

The effects of laser phototherapy:

Local and targeted stimulation of the immune system.
Improving blood and lymph circulation.
Stimulation of metabolism in cells.
Stimulation of the production of “natural anesthetics” such as endorphins and prostaglandins.
Excellent antibacterial and antiviral effect.

As a result we achieve:

  • Analgesic effect

The laser has the great advantage of acting directly on the levels of conduction, transmission and reception of the central nerve cavity of pain, with beneficial effects on the patient’s mental state.

  • Muscle relaxation effect

The laser has an excellent effect of relaxing muscles and reducing cramps. Especially in situations of jaw joint pain (TMJ) and restriction in mouth opening. It is also recommended to use the laser in diseases in which there are muscle cramps such as torticollis or lumbalgo.

  • Anti-edematous effect

Absorption of edema with the help of laser phototherapy is possible from the very first sessions – makes the laser treatment play an especially important role after surgical treatments such as extractions or implants. Also in situations of trauma due to a fall or accident.

  • Biostimulation

Laser treatment produces changes in regional blood circulation:
– blood dilution.
– Vasodilation.
– Increased vascular permeability.
– Improving the oxygen supply.
– Improving the purification capacity of local metabolic or inflammatory products.
