Continuing from the previous article on tooth sensitivity. we talked at first about ways to diagnose tooth sensitivity. The diagnosis is very important in order to choose the right and most effective treatment to your specific condition. We also said that the phenomenon of sensitive teeth is caused by exposure of the dentin, due to erosion of the enamel or receding gums and bone resorption. Then we started to mention the reasons why the dentin was exposed.

We mentioned 3 reasons:

In this article we will continue the reasons why dentin is exposed and also give you solutions that will help you deal with the phenomenon.

There are 3 other reasons for dentine exposure:

1- Gums rescission:

As a result of surgical or orthodontic treatment. For example after a displacement of tooth or placement of implant. Or during orthodontic treatment or right after dental hygiene treatment. In such situations do not worry, a matter of time and sensitivity will pass

2- Parafunctions:

Chewing hard objects or holding them in your mouth. These habits can directly damage the tooth: tooth erosion and even fractures. It can also damage the gums and cause receding gums and sensitive teeth

3- Dentine exposed from birth:

Dental sensitivity, what do you do?

First of all it is important to be sure of the diagnosis:

is sensitivity in the teeth as a result of dentin exposure or sensitive teeth as a result of a hole, fracture or crack?!

The treatment is different in these two cases. If there is a hole, fracture or crack the treatment is immediate and simple: clean and restore the tooth.

If sensitivity in the teeth as a result of dentin exposure, the treatment is more complex, requiring patience, follow-up and cooperation of the patient with the doctor.

There are few solutions for dental sensitivity:

  2. Proper teeth brushing education.
  3. Anti-sensivity preparations.
  4. Dental veneers.
  5. Root canal treatment.
